Instruction of Use
Prior to using this test pack, perform a 134°C sterilisation cycle with the sterilisation chamber empty.Immediately after this cycle, place the ISP Bowie & Dick Test Pack in the steriliser as close as possible to the location that during validation was identified to be the coldest spot. Ensure the test pack does not touch the chamber wall. Run a 134°C sterilisation cycle (maximum sterilisation time 3.5 minutes) with the autoclave test pack being the only load. At completion remove the test pack from the steriliser, open it
and take out the indicator sheet. The indicator sheet must have changed to a uniform completely dark colour. If the indicator colour is not uniform and completely dark, repeat the test and follow the department protocol. Some of the causes of a not completely changed indicator sheet may be: time/temperature was not set correctly, oversaturated (wet) steam, presence of air or non-condensable gases, abnormal vacuum level, or super heated steam.
